Show Phil Nielson manager for the Footwarmers orchestra, was among those taking part in the annual Black Hawk reunion at Spanish Fork last week. Mr. Nielson appeared appear-ed in several musical numbers, featuring fea-turing a quartet. During the reunion re-union week Mr. Nielson and four singers from Manti broadcasted several sev-eral selections over KSL at Salt Lake. Mrs. Orville Hansen was hostess at a dinner-bridge party at the Gunnison Gun-nison hotel Saturday evening when she entertained for twelve guests. An eight o'clock dinner was followed follow-ed by cards, at which honors were won by Mrs. F. H. Jones and Mrs. Howard Norman. Sweet peas of different hues and colors, were used as table decorations Mrs. J. A. Hagan delightfully entertained en-tertained at a rook and bridge party Friday afternoon of last week. Twenty guests were present and enjoyed en-joyed a delightful afternoon. Garden Gar-den flowers were effectively used as home decorations. At five refreshments refresh-ments were served, the hostess being assisted by the Misses Julia and Helen Hagan. Mrs. Clarence Madsen delightfully entertained twelve guests at a dinner party at the Madsen home Sunday evening. Following the splendid dinner served at seven thirty, bridge proved an enjoyable pastime. Mrs. Fred Jones won first honor, and Mrs. Julius Duggins, second, in the contest con-test at cards. Marshal R. L. Tollestrup, Mrs. Tollestrup, Miss Beryl Bown, Grant Chidester and Rellis Sorenson, were northbound auto passengers Tuesday afternoon. The party went to Salt Lake and will remain until Saturday Satur-day enjoying an outing at the resorts re-sorts adjacent to the capitol city. Mrs. C. A. Sunberg who has been the guest at the home of her brother, Antone Jensen, for the past three weeks, will return to her home at Salt Lake Saturday. Mrs. Jeanette Wilson Jensen, and Ray and Fay Jensen of Salt Lake, are in the city, the house guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Wilson. Wil-son. The visitors will be here until .the first of September. Mr. and Mrs. Christian Hansen, Mrs. Alma Larsen and Lester Hansen Han-sen enjoyed a motor trip Sunday to cities in the northern end of the county. Manti, Ephraim, Nephi and Levan were included in the trip. It was the first trip for Mrs. Hansen through North Sanpete since twenty-two twenty-two years ago. , LOCAL ITEMS ' OF INTEREST " Dr. F. O. Mr. and Mrs. Mac Peterson motored motor-ed to Salt Lake Sunday and spent the early days of the week combining combin-ing business with pleasure. . Mrs. C. O. Lundeberg and Miss Erma Lundeberg left for Salt Lake Sunday. They will be the guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lundeberg, where a fine baby boy was born about ten days ago. Howard Norman and C. B. Hansen, Han-sen, self-claimed experts at angling, went -to Fishlake Thursday of last week, returning Friday evening. There was no disappointment among their friends, as no one was looking for a mess. r: Chas. P. Peterson, Miss Imelda Peterson and Byron Peterson, motored motor-ed tib Fishlake last Friday and returned re-turned Tuesday. They enjoyed the brief outing, even though "fishin" was poor. Mrs. Hazel Peterson, Barbara and Blaine and Donald Peterson, who spent the summer months at Salt Lake, have returned to their home in Gunnison. They will remain here for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Whitehead, LeRoy Whitehead II, Mrs. E. J. Hall and Mrs. B. J. David were here from Provo Tuesday. Mr. Whitehead White-head just recently returned from a three months mission to the Canadian Canad-ian fields for the L. D. S. church. He expects to return to Gunnison the first of September and prepare for. the opening of the seminary school, of which he will be the principal princi-pal during the coming school season. sea-son. A. L. Brown, representing the Sa-. Sa-. lina Lead Zinc company, Salina, was a Gunnison visitor Monday of this week. Mr. Brown stated that the new machinery recently received isj fast being placed in position and that within the next ten days or two weeks sinking of the shaft to a greater depth would be started and rushed to the 500-foot level. Mrs. Lydia Duggins who had been absent from her home here for three weeks, returned last week-end. While away she visited at Price, Vernal, Provo, Salt Lake and Ephraim. On her return she was accompanied by her niece, Miss Sadie Brienholt, of Ephraim. The latter will be the guest of Mrs. Duggins for a week or more. ' . -v- iMrs. A. C. Anderson, and daughter, daugh-ter, Miss Alta Anderson, of Imbler, Ore., have been the house guests at the ' James Nielson home. Miss Anderson left for Salt Lake last Friday, where she will remain sometime some-time before returning to her home. Mrs. Anderson, a sister to James Nielson, expects to extend her visit hre several weeks. |
