Show War Debt Arguments Make Hoover Smile The different arguments advanced by the European countries as to whether wheth-er or not they should pay their war debts to America caused Herbert Hoover Hoo-ver to remark : "European statesmen, I cannot sny whether intentionally or not, are as naive In their "arguments as a child. They ure adroit enough to be American Amer-ican lawyers. Only the other day a very prominent diplomat made a statement state-ment about the war debt of his country coun-try that reminded me of a little boy friend of mine. "Plenring they had twins at the little lit-tle fellow's house I remarked : " 'So you have twins at your houss, Billy?' " 'No, sir, they ain't twins,' he exclaimed ex-claimed ; 'one of 'em is u boy and thii other Is a girl.' " |
