Show - Saving on Tires The saving on tires has been partly investigated at the University of Illinois, Illi-nois, and it has been found that unimproved un-improved roads wear out tires four times faster than the best types of improved im-proved roads. Let us take two as the average ratio for the various types. This means that where it would require re-quire two tires to travel a certain distance dis-tance on an unimproved road, it would require only one tire for the same distance dis-tance on the average improved road. The cost of tires comprises about 8 per cent of the total operating cost, so that the saving thus made becomes 4 per cent of the total. |
