Show President Harding Issues Proclamatoin i President Harding, in his first Memorial day proclamation, which has been set for April 30, 1921, has called upou the nation to pay homage hom-age to its hero dead and has Issued tiie following proclamation: "Whereas, the nalion has been conceived in prayer and devotion by men and women who were moved under un-der God to found a nation where principles of right should form a lasting cornerstone, and, "Whereas, these principles, purchased pur-chased at the price of great sacrifice, have been fostered by worthy posterity; poster-ity; and, "Whereas, a great war has lately laid its cnstlv demands nnnn onr- land; "Now, therefore, I, Warren G. liar-ding, liar-ding, president of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim Monday, Mon-day, the 30th day of May, a day already al-ready freighted with sacred and stimulating memories, a day of public pub-lic memorial. I invite my fellow citizens citi-zens fittingly to pay homage on this day to a noble dead who sleep in homeland, beneath the sea or on foreign for-eign field, that we who survive might enjoy the blessing of peace and happiness, and to the end that liberty liber-ty and justice, without which no nation na-tion can exist, shall live forever." |
