Show City Will Observe "Cemetery Day" Mayor J. W. Jones has issued a proclamation, appearing in another column of The News, declaring a 'half holiday on Saturday, May 21, at which, time the city cemetery will undergo a thorough cleaning. The day has been designated as "Cemetery "Ceme-tery day," and it is urged that the spirit prevail throughout the entire city, and that everyone interested in the beautification of the cemetery join in the movement and aid in carrying car-rying out the plans arranged. The doors of the several business houses in the city will close promptly at 9 o'clock in the morning and wii; remain closed until 1 o'clock. It is I hoped that all other classes of work tie dispensed with during the closing period asked in the proclamation and that all join in the work, and place the grounds in presentable shape before be-fore Decoration day. Those who will come ' as single hand workers are asked to bring their own shovel or rake. Several teams will be required o haul away the debris, and one or two scrapers will be necessary to aid in leveling the grounds and filling the ditches made by the heavy waters wa-ters and snows during, the fast winter. win-ter. To this end the women and young ladies of the city will be asked to come to the rescue. Arrangements will be made to serve lunch coffee, sandwiches, cake, and anything the good women will want to provide. Tables will be provided and the lunch will oe served in cafeteria style.
