Show Young Men Fined $10 For Gambling Sheriff Sanderson, Deputy Sheriff Carlston and County Attorney Jen-son, Jen-son, who have been working on sev-. sev-. eral cases in Gunnison, and Incidentally Incident-ally "casting the drag net" for violators viola-tors of the law, landed four Gunnison Gunni-son boys last Tuesday afternoon. The boys, Ross Tollestrup, McLaren Peterson, Pe-terson, Melrose Voorhees, Burdette Sanders and Grant Lee, were arrested arrest-ed and charged with gambling, Sheriff Sanderson being tne , complaining com-plaining witness. All the boys with the exception of Lee were taken before be-fore Justice of the Peace Reuben Christensen Tuesday night, where pleas of guilty were made. Lee, who was mixed up in a "bootlegging" case some few weeks ago, failed to appear, and it is believed that he has left the country. All the boys found guilty appeared before Justice Christensen Wednesday and were assessed $10. The fines were paid. Following the hearing of the Gun-inison Gun-inison boys on the charge of gambling, gam-bling, Justice of the Peace Christensen Christen-sen took up the complain against Dean Larson of Manti. Larson, in a complaint sworn to July 23 by Luzon Beck, was charged with rape. On motion of County Attorney A. W. Jensen, Justice Christensen dismissed dis-missed the case and the bond of ( 1,000 under which young Larson had been placed, was ordered vacated by the court. Following the dismissal of the rape charge, Larson was again placed un-iler un-iler arrest and a statutory cnarge placed against him, Miss Beck being the complaining witness. Larson was placed under $750 bonds, and J. M. Knighton and Lewis Larson were named as sureties. |
