Last night a crowd of over 100 invited guests met at the Opera Hall to pay a parting tribute of respect to Utah's cadet for West Poini, W. E. Cole. The evening was spent in dancing, singing, reciting, re-citing, etc. Lunch was served abouteleven o'clock. Mr. Chandler's speech was very appropriate for che occasion He gave a short account ac-count of West Point, and brought before the eyes of the young cadet in very forcible language the req-uisits req-uisits in making a mark for himself him-self in filling the responsible and important position. Mr. Cole was called for and with that manliness that has so characterized his life, took Hie floor. Although the feelings that arose in his heart almost al-most stilled the utterance of words, he said that he would leave tomorrow tomor-row morning the home of his birth with a determination to add if possible pos-sible a few more honors, to the bright record that has already been made by Utah's cadets in tins world - famed institution of learning. He was presented by his friends with a purse of $20. and at an early hour in the morning the part' dispersed, feeling honored honor-ed to think they had been privileged privi-leged to meet with a young man who had ambition am-bition enough to seek to fill places once occupied by such men as Grant, Stonewall Jackson, Robt. E. Lee, W. T. Sherman, Philip Henry Sheriden and others. The report is that Emmanuel Bragger and Eliza Carlson left for Logan to be united in bonds of matrimony.
