Show Lookout Mouiitiilii Shuken. Recently a blast was fired on the side of Lookout mountain, which was remarkable re-markable in its size and results. One hundred kegs of powder were packed in nix holes and fired by electricity. A Indtfo of rocks was dislodged, and hundreds hun-dreds of tons rolled down the mountain1 side, somo of the pieces being as high as a two story building. The broad gunge railroad truck was destroyed for !i0(l yards and trees cut down liko straw. It took two weeks for fifty men to repair tho damage to the railroad, which was worse than a hole in the grouud. At least 100,000 tons of rock were thrown out and down. Memphis Appeal-Avalanche. |
