The explorers wero last heard of from the southwest coasts of Spitsbergen, where they had encountered many gales On the west coast, in Magdalen bav, latitude lat-itude 79.35 north, they met an English i sportsman, Mr. Pike, who had wintered hi Spilzbergen. Ho reported that tho i winter had been mild, but sport was not very good. Encouraged by Dr. Nansen s success, the Danes will send an expedi- ; lion next year to the east coast of Green- land.
