Show he trumps up dead issues, to feed an old grudge, and once more squirm under the search-light of public scruting. Obscurity galls his ambitious nature. He thirsts for notoriety, even choosing that of an unsavory character to none at all. It has been, street-talk for months that Box was "a little off;" ihiB last foolish step strengthens the report. re-port. Ofcourse Box is not entirely to blame. He is nagged on by an organized ring of mischief-makers. This noble lot are jealous of The Bugler and envious of its prosperity. prosper-ity. Some of these narrow-souled politicians aim to suppress this paper before the next election. We understand that Box will have no lawyers' fees to pay; some alleged "lawyers" of the small potato po-tato stripe, having gladly proffered advice and services in order to feed fat some old grudge against The Buqlkk for exposing their deviltry. As a rule these damage suits are placed at from $5,000 to $25,000; coming down to the paltry sum of $299 shows bad faith, not only in one's case, but it argues mighty little character at stake. Now if Box really needs the filthy lucre asked for. let him cone to our office likea man and we will not orly cancel all his old advertising adver-tising and job work debts due th e office, but will give him in addition ad-dition a check of a larger denomination denomi-nation than he will ever get out of all the damage suits threatened by him through his semi-tramp organ. The Provo Enquirer says it has had some seventeen such suits, but has never paid out a dollar. We believe The Bugler is good fur a dozen or two. There is no question but that th sole object of the present raid on us is to Rive us trouble and cause expense. But we assure these dear friends of ours, some of whom would sacrifice half of all their ill-gotten gains to silence The Buoler, that we have enough right, justice and pluck on our side and sufficient wherewith at our back to weather any sea of discord and strife they may choose to stir up. They may stir up an ocean of bitterness, but they will drown themselves in it if they do. BOX BOBS IP E. A. Box, whose crooked work in the local loan association has of late given him much undesirable notoriety, has brought a $'299 : damage suit against The Bugler for reporting the district court proceedings pro-ceedings in Box's embezzlement case. Our report was taken from tho Ogden papers, and appeared six months ago. We really feel bad for Box. We fear he has had another of his truly tru-ly pitiable ti tp.and has lost the little bense remaining, or he would court rattlesnakes in preference to more ; notoriety. The community here has shown a leniency and mercy in his behalf which has subjected them to levere outside criticism; they closed their eyes to his crimes, shielding him from the gaping jaws of the peni-' peni-' tentlary, trusting that silent mercy : would make the sinner penitent. 1 Tot so.
