The golden grain stands waving in the gentle breezes, or is cut, bound and stacked, stack-ed, or hauled away, leaving a level i floor of yellow stubble. Large patches pat-ches of beets, onions, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, etc., are seen on every hand. The farms immediately immediate-ly north of town yield some of the heaviest crops in Utah. The grassy meadows and shady trees, with an occasional delicate prim-, prim-, rose peeping timidly out from some secluded bank, please and delight 'the eye exceedingly. Here the 1 yellow heads of the goldenrod pro-1 pro-1 trude above the fences, and there the prickly pate of the teasel stands out. The birds flit freely and fearlessly about you, j chirping and singing their merry i songs. An hour spent wandering along the shady lanes among the I fields and meadows north of town, j is replete with sudden delights, un- expressible rapture and soul-satislying soul-satislying enjoyment. |
