Show New Area Variety Show To Encourage Fine Arts PANGUITCH Members of Fine Arts Boosters (FAB) are encouraging en-couraging local vocalists and those with instrumental music talents to take part in a community choir and audition for an upcoming variety show themed "Potpourri" which will feature drama, dance, instrumental instru-mental and vocal music. Members of FAB have joined together to promote and assist with the fine arts in school and community. They are embarking on their newest effort after successfully staging "Alice in Wonderland" in Panguitch in May 1999. Performances this time will take place in late March at Bryce Valley High School and at Piute High School. In the Bryce Valley area, Cheri Feltner is coordinating the Community Com-munity Family Choir. She can be reached at 679-8644. There will be a combined choir rehearsal at the Panguitch LDS Stake Center on Sunday, Mar. 26 from 5 until 6 p.m., with a nursery provided for children 3 and under . David Jordan, music teacher at Bryce Valley High School and Panguitch Pan-guitch High School, invites vocalists vocal-ists (men are especially needed), and those who play brass and woodwind instruments "ages 12 to 112" to join students in learning and performing per-forming for "Potpourri." In the Panguitch area, the Community Com-munity Family Choir is preparing "How Great Thou Art" and "Teach Me to Walk in the Light," with rehearsals planned for Mar. 19 and 26, 5-6 p.m. with a nursery for children 3 and younger. Those in the Panguitch-Hatch area wishing to audition may contact con-tact Jordan at his home in Panguitch Pan-guitch (676-2032) or Jackie Wilson in Hatch (745-4110). In Piute County, interested residents can contact Doug Allen (music) or Scott Bagley (drama) at Piute High School (577-2881). Following their performances on Jan. 29, many of the students involved in the fine arts at their respective high schools will travel to Wayne High School for region competition in drama, with music festivals for students involved in vocal and instrumental music set for later in the Spring. |
