Show Current Miss Garfield Has Had a Busy Year PANGUITCH - Reigning for the last time in Garfield County at Wednesday's Miss Garfield Pageant will be Kali Moore who has served as Miss Garfield County for the past 12 months, beginning with last year's Garfield County Fair. The balance of her year as Miss Garfield County has been packed with activities and appearances. During the last year, Kali had the opportunity to help judge the 4-H cooking contest and she presented the awards at the Junior Livestock Show. She performed at the Farm Bureau Talent Show and attended all of the activities associated with the Fair. Throughout the year she worked on her service platform of Juvenile Diabetes Education. She was able to return several times during the school year to meet with elementary school children throughout Garfield County. Her 8-year-old cousin Wyatt accompanied her on all her visits. She said that the school children were exceptionally exception-ally receptive to her presentation and worked very hard to raise l I i V Kali Moore money for juvenile diabetes research, raising almost $2,000. She arranged a pizza party for the class in each school which raised the most money. In May she organized Garfield County's First Annual Juvenile Diabetes "Walk for a Cure" with participants, partici-pants, wearing their "Walk for a Cure" T-shirts walking from Panguitch High School to the County Fair Building. (See MISS GARFIELD on p. 4) A Busy Miss Garfield From Front Page In January Kali attended a Travel Show in Las Vegas with the Garfield County Travel Councilwhere she helped to promote pro-mote all of the amazing attractions attrac-tions in Garfield County. She spent the spring working and preparing for the Miss Utah Competition. During the week-long week-long competition in June, she met 56 of the state's most amazing amaz-ing and talented girls and made many lifelong friends. "Performing in Abravanel Hall was an experience I will never forget," she says. She says she has enjoyed working with the girls who are preparing for the 2004 Miss Garfield Pageant, one of whom can look forward to a year ahead of challenging and fulfilling activities representing Garfield County. Kali will complete her own reign by competing in September at the Miss Utah State Fair Pageant. "My year as Miss Garfield County has been a great experience experi-ence and I want to thank my pageant director and friend, Becky Bronson and my family for all of their support," she said. |
