Show DAR Makes History In Garfield County ESCALANTE Members of the Bald Eagle Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold their April 29 meeting in Escalante. It will be the first meeting of the Organization in Garfield County! In honor of the DAR Millennium Conservation Project, the Chapter will be planting plant-ing a "Clara Barton Red Bud" tree in front of the Escalante Community Com-munity center. The tree was donated dona-ted by Sue Anderson, Associate Member and Past Utah State Regent. Re-gent. The group will honor Escalante 5th grader, Jerica Durfee, daughter of Dirk and Eva Durfee, who was the Utah State runner up this year in the American History Essay Contest. A Community Service Award will be presented to 5 th grade teacher, Sue Bassett. Bassett has served the community as a dedicated teacher, Scout leader and has numerous numer-ous outreaches to senior citizens. Members and family of Miss Bassett's 5th Grade will be in attendance atten-dance as will prospective DAR members from Escalante, and Bald Eagle Chapter members and Chapter Chap-ter Regent, Laura Cotts, from Cedar City. The meeting will begin with the tree planting-in front of the Escalante Esca-lante Community Center, 55 N. 100 W. at 10:30 a.m., followed by the meeting in the Senior Citizens Center.
