' 4 Escalante EMTs, firefighters, and policemen joined forces to stage a mock accident on Saturday, with the help of local citizens who ESCALANTE The Escalante EMT's, volunteer firefighters, and city police got together this weekend week-end to stage a mock accident at the high school on Saturday. The mock accident invoved the scenario of a two-car accident with five patients. pa-tients. Two of the patients spoke no English in one of the vehicles and the fire department utilized the jaws of life to extricate the patients. EMT's were challenged to handle five patients, several of whom could have had serious injuries. volunteered to be "victims.' The staged accidents help EMS personnel train for the time that a real emergency will require their skills. Escalante EMS Sets Up Mock Accident Police were also challenged to handle han-dle a large accident scenario. Many people from Escalante participated including fire department depart-ment members Gary Spencer, Chief Don Porter, Dan Cottam, Warren Haycock, Chris Christensen, and Brian Stowe. EMT's particpating were Cindi Steed, Linda Haycock, Donnie Randall, Ran-dall, Duke Marshall, Tom Mansell and Nicolli Spencer. Sam Winkler and Dennis Isheim also participated as Escalante City Police. The five "patients" who helped out were Diane Richins, Megen Richins, Imi Kun, Thomas Kun, and Jamie Barney. Curt Richins of Frontier Service donated two cars, one of which was used for extrication. Bill Christensen Christen-sen took the time to help Richins move the cars at set .up the scenario. sce-nario.
