Show Panguitch Lions Stay Busy In Winter Months By Earl Roe Our aluminum can project is picking up after an unexpected winter slump. We would like to remind everyone that proceeds from this project go to our scholarship fund and we urge everyone to deposit their empties in one of our bins which are located at the elementary school, the city office, and near the dumpster bins. If you have scrap aluminum you are discarding, toss it to the side of the bins and it will be picked up or 1 notify any Lion member and someone will come and pick it up". Our club membership has now increased to 34 members, but the growth is slow. We would certainly welcome anyone who would like to j belong to an organization that is I dedicated to cmmuriity service. We would especially welcome those j from the young, energetic i generation. Our newest members are Allen and Pat Smith who reside at Panguitch Lake. We usually meet on the second ' ' and fourth Wednesday of each month at the Flying M cafe, but at a recent meeting we decided to only meet on the fourth Wednesday during the slow winter months. At a recent meeting we made arrangements for our annual Easter ! f. egg hunt and gave $200 to get this '. - -; event rolling. This year Megan ! Paine will be in charge of this 1 event as her project to earn her j . Young Womanhood award. Pat I Oetting, who usually chairs this 1 " project, will be on hand to assist her in anything she needs. Our club j also voted to give Brock Soper j some financial aid as an exchange I student to Japan. This is an I excellent educational program for students and we would like to see ' more foreign students in out local ' high schools and more of our ; students becoming exchange ; students to other countries. |
