Show Bryce Canyon National Park Budget And Performance Plans Available For Review BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL NATION-AL PARK Bryce Canyon National Park Superintendent Fred J. Fagergren has announced that the park's annual performance plan and documents, providing details about the appropriated budget and fee revenues for FY 2001, are available for public review as required by the "National Parks Omnibus Management Manage-ment Act of 1998." Highlights of the park's budget, which funds specific goals in the annual performance plan, include: $49,000 for resource preservation and management: Continuation Con-tinuation of our exotic species program will identify any new exotic species entering the park and plan for eradication methods. Monitoring Mon-itoring of Utah prairie dogs and restoration work of historic structures struc-tures will continue. $858,000 to address visitor services activities including interpretive inter-pretive evening campfire programs, ranger-guided hikes, park orientation programs and parks in the classroom. class-room. The park also maintains a high standard of visitor safety and resource protection through its re source protection and search and rescue staff. The high quality standards stand-ards of our concession operations are managed under this program. $1,109,000 for facility operations op-erations and maintenance: Bryce Canyon National Park maintains over 50 buildings, 35-miles of roadway and 65-miles of trails. The bulk of these funds are used for general upkeep of park infrastructure. infrastruc-ture. We continue to implement a two-year road reconstruction project totaling approximately $10,400,000. Also during 2001, the park service will continue to rehabilitate sewage lagoons and lines, restore the water distribution system, restore historic restrooms, and repair trails and retaining walls. These projects will total approximately $1,500,000. $191,000 for park administration: Management costs for operation of Bryce Canyon National Park. , Fee Demonstration Projects: Proj-ects: The successful park shuttle operation will continue for its second year, beginning May 11, (See BCNP BUDGET page 5-A) BUDGET Frorri Front Page 2001.
