Show Garfield Memorial Celebrates National Hospital Week With In-House Festivities By Grant Warnick, Certified Nurse Anesthetist PANGUITCH This past week was one of celebration and fun at Garfield Memorial Hospital. With all of the upgrades of equipment equip-ment and emphasis on bringing the very best care to all its citizens and visitors, the employees were able to take some time out and participate in National Hospital Week. Monday was the kickoff with Ron Hatch, lab manager, winning the "Utah Trivia Quiz." Ron showed his knowledge by missing only one question. On Tuesday, Tim Smith and Lewis Barney won the egg toss with a spectacular throw and catch of just over 150 tcet. DcAnn Brown placed second when the egg splattered all over her face. Wednesday, Garfield Memorial sponsored a tasty cookout for lunch with Lewis Barney as chef. Insulated Insu-lated coolers were presented as gifts to each employee and the dietary staffcooks as always prepared great side dishes and desserts. On Thursday, employees brought in their favorite photo. Connie Sawyer won first prize with her dog Bubba. Poor Bubba was photographed with a face full of porcupine quills and looking quite sad. On Friday, it was Hat Day with the employees wearing their favor- ite hat. It was difficult to pick one winner, so Joe Johnson and Valeene Roberts were both chosen to win first prize. There were many extremely ex-tremely original and clever displays. Special appreciation to Ruby's Inn, for donating a $50 gift certificate; certifi-cate; to Western Town for a free dinner for two; to Canyon Livery Bed and Breakfast; for a night's stay in Tropic; to Harold's Place for a buy-one-get-one-free dinner, and to Cafe Adobe in Hatch, for a dinner for two. |
