Show Escqltmfc I:v:i By Marlene Haws 435-826-4859 Many homes were filled with relatives who came to town to attend at-tend the Escalante High School graduation exercises. Relatives of J. S. Butler, son of Danny and Kim Reid, who were here were: grandparents, Jack and Betty Kay Gleave, Antimony and Twila Michelangelo, Richfield; uncles un-cles aunts, sisters and cousins: Arby, Clayton, Dwyatt and Waylon Gleave, all of Kingston; Wayne and Terra Turner, Salina; Albert and Melanie Sivils, La Verkin; Lewis and Alayce Roundy, Tropic; Darrell and Annie Reid, Evanston, Wyo. and Jerry and Monica Taylor, Alpine. Al-pine. The Taylors also came for the graduation of Rachelle Gledhill and visited with Jerry's mom, MaeVonn Taylor and other family members. Jimmy and Ethel Taylor and Emmorn Dodds were here also David Goerdel came home from Fort Odessa, Tex., where he is working, for the graduation of his son, Blake. Also attending were Blakes's mother, Beverly Goerdel; grandparents, Dale and Barbara Caraway, all of Hamilton, Tex.; uncle, Brent Caraway, Lubbock, Tex., and Blakes good friend Aarron Galloway, Odessa, Tex. Rachelle Gledhill, daughter of Dean and Janis Gledhill, had her brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Jody Gledhill and family, from Iv-ins Iv-ins and her sister and brother-in-law Crissy and David Owen and family of Elko, Nev. They all attended graduation and enjoyed the weekend together. Janae Aston came all the way from Vancouver, Wash, for the graduation of her brother, Clint Jackson. Steve and Vivian Collard were here from Bountiful; Clint's grandmother, Rhea Jackson, came from Torrey. She left the next week for Salt Lake City to go on an LDS mission in the Family History His-tory Center. Carlyle Shurtz was here from Sandy. He and Barbara are both here now for a short stay in their home. Heather Koyle, daughter of Kendall Ken-dall and Laura Koyle, and part of her family took a little trip to Idaho after her graduation. They even got to help her grandfather celebrate his 70th birthday. She said they had a great time, but she was glad to be back home again too! Grandparents, aunts and cousins, who came for the graduation of Ashley Beebe, daughter of Wade and Lori Beebe were: Ron and Cherie Beebe, Sheila Shotwell and children, chil-dren, all of Beaver; Scrib and Deanne Gillies, Panguitch and Kim Stewart and children, Tropic. Ashley Ash-ley left last week for Atlanta, Ga., where she will participate in a national na-tional health competition. Grandparents Albert and Alice McLemore, Fallon, Nev. and Norm and Glenis Boardman, Kanab, came for the graduation of Tyler McLemore, son of Marc and Susann McLemore. The next week Marc and Susann went to Park City for meetings. Natalie Cottam, daughter of Myron and Sannette Cottam, had her brother and sister-in-law, Garrett and Megan Cottam, here from Cedar Ce-dar City and her sister, Melanie Cottam from Provo. The rest of the family had just been here for Garrett's and Megan's wedding and were unable to come back for graduation. Lee and Kathleen Williams went to Cedar City for the graduation of two grandchildren. They have two other grandchildren graduating in Idaho and Arizona, but may not be able to make it to them. I'm sure they will be there in spirit! Rick and Melanie Oyler took a group of seven Brownie Girl Scouts to the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City to attend the "Cookie Convention." Kay Ellett and Susann McLemore went along as chaperones. The girls who went were Hailey McLemore, Morgan Ellett, Erica Keene, Rachelle Oyler, Braidy Cottam, Cot-tam, Audrey Porter and Marty Dunham. Dun-ham. Rachelle Oyler got a special recognition award for selling over 100 boxes of cookies. Sharon Dale Marsh and most of his family went to Brigham City to do geneology with his father's family. fam-ily. Sounds like a fun and rewarding project! McKay and Rose Bailey went to Fillmore for the farewell testimonial testimo-nial of their grandson, Chad Bailey. He is the son of Stuart and Karma Bailey. He will be serving an LDS mission in Guatemala City. He went into the Missionary Training Center in Provo on Wednesday, June 6.. McKay and Rose Also went to Koosharem for the blessing of Alan and Sara Bailey's fifth child, a boy. This makes three boys and two girls for them and they still live in Mesa, Ariz.. Sara's parents, Jack and Lora Burr were just returning from an LDS mission to South Africa, so they all joined together for the blessing of the baby and the Burr's report. Jack is a brother of Bruce Burr, who used to be the manager of the telephone tele-phone company here. Melvin Alvey is feeling better. He has been to church a time or two and he and Florence went to Cedar City for the baptism of their granddaughter, Jessica, daughter of Neuman and Lucinda Duncan. Hie Duncans' son, Michael, recently returned re-turned from an LDS mission to Guam and he and a friend, Seth Green, brought the Alveys home and are hoping to be employed in Escalante for the summer. Another grandson, Derrick Duncan, will be leaving in July to serve an LDS mission in Argentina. The Alveys also have their first greatgrandchild, great-grandchild, who belongs to Frank and Heidi Duncan Gilmore. They live in Oregon but will bring the baby to Cedar City for a name and a blessing in the LDS church. Hopefully Hope-fully the Alveys will be able to go over for that. Que Porter spent some time in Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch Pan-guitch last week. He is home, but will be paying his doctors a visit off and on for a while. The town was shocked and saddened sad-dened by the death of Jim Smith. He has been our high school coach for a lot of years and was still a young man. Our condolences to his wife, Margo, his children, his mom, Rae Smith, Henrieville and his extended family. Emilee Liston came from Cedar City on the weekend to visit her grandparents, Lane and Geraldine Liston. She has a diamond ring and will be getting married in September Septem-ber to Dallas Clark, Cannonville. Her sister Jenifer is here also, working work-ing in the office at the sawmill. She will be going to Australia in a few weeks to play, on a volleyball team. |
