Show Cross-Arm Break Causes Power Outage ESCAL ANTEBOULDER Garkane Energy customers in the Garfield County communities of Boulder and Escalante experienced a power outage Thursday afternoon, June 7, 2001, when a cross-arm on the cooperative's transmission line east of Escalante broke from a-lightning a-lightning strike. The outage occurred oc-curred at approximately 5:00 p.m. Garkane crews were immediately dispatched to the area and located the problem. Crews were able to sectionalize and bypass the problem quickly, restoring power by about 6:30 p.m. Escalante was served by the transmission system from Glen Canyon, while Boulder Town was served by the Boulder Hydro Plant, isolating the section of line where the repairs were made. Work to replace the cross-arm went on into the night, with the work being completed at about midnight. "We're glad we were able to get the lights back on quickly, even though repairs took several hours to complete," stated Carl Albrecht, Garkane' s CEO. "We appreciate the efforts of our line crews. They are dedicated to providing our members with the very best service possible." |
