Show At Cherokee Springs Fireman's Scramble Golf Tourney Set For Hatch HATCH The Hatch Volunteer Volun-teer Fire Department and Cherokee Springs Special Service District have combined their efforts this year for a joint fire department fund raiser. The event is set to begin at 4 p.m., Saturday, June 23 just seven miles south of Hatch on US89 (milemarker 110.5) at the Cherokee Springs Golf and RV Resort. Re-sort. The 1st Annual Fireman's Scramble Golf Tournament is combining com-bining with the second year of a Hatch Community Dinner to produce pro-duce one huge fund raiser on behalf of volunteer fire fighters. The highlight of the event will be competition com-petition between teams at the Golf Scramble. The entry fee is set at $80 and includes 9 holes of golf, prizes and a golf cart. The golf competition is open to the public and all fire fighters, EMTs, sheriffs, deputies, Utah Highway Patrol and other safety personnel who are encouraged to team up and support the event. There will be a shotgun start at 4 p.m. and each team of four will play its best ball hit. Participants must use two drives from each player. Anyone who is musical or feels musical is welcome to bring his or her instruments and join in! A grand prize trophy will be awarded along with the winning lowest score. The team with the lowest score will receive two season sea-son passes to Cherokee Springs valued at $500. Other events include the mens and womens longest drive competition, competi-tion, closest to the pin event, and the best putt. For kids under 12 event there will be a putting contest and count the tees contest. The community dinner and auction auc-tion is set to begin at 6 p.m. with pit barbeque beef, Dutch oven potatoes, pota-toes, salads, rolls, watermelon and r cobbler. Community members can bring added desserts if they would like to help out.
