Show What Are Your Plans? I am writing in regards once again to the situation of the Johns Valley Black Canyon Road. As you are aware, I wrote several months ago concerning the conditions condi-tions of this road. Since this time, there has been leveling done, and a portion of the road was graveled. Why was that portion of the road not completed at that time? Now, we are fighting that part of the road, and two miles of potholes on the blacktop portion of the road. There are so many potholes on that road that it's impossible not to hit some of them, if not all of them. If you have ever had your vehicle vehi-cle out through there, then obviously obvi-ously you know even, after one time, what kind of damage has been done to your vehicle. But, there are people who travel this road daily whether to places of employment or for recreational purposes. I myself drive this road five days a week, twice a day. , There are many rumors of the construction company over the months. One being that they went bankrupt. Another one being that the UDOT came out and shut their operation down. Why then has thefe not been another company brought in? Or why hasn't our own Garfield County been out there taking care of the problem? There have been many contacts made as to the concern of the road. (See LETTER on page 5-A) LETTER From Page 2-A The surveyors have completed their job a month ago. Are you going to wait until the stakes they've put up become weather rotted and the taxpayers tax-payers have to pay for it all over again? There has also been rumors over the years that this is a political issue, is-sue, in that Garfield County wants to discourage people from using this road so that all the traffic will go through Panguitch. Is this true? We are all fighting the economy of rising prices on everything, including in-cluding gasoline. We who travel from Antimony or whereever else we may be traveling from are all taxpayers in one way or another: And we deserve to have our roads taken care of. How many letters or phone calls or personal contacts of concern need to be made before anything any-thing gets done about this road? Does our own Garfield County not have the manpower and equipment to take care of this without having to call in or hire other construction company to complete this job? We as concerned citizens and taxpayers have a right to know what your plans are as to the situation situa-tion and conditions of the road. Tammy Shepherd Antimony |
