Show Mamie Talbot 676-8084 A flock of robins have been cavorting on the town lawns and we hear that there are a lot of geese in the Valley heading north. For us, this news is more cheering and hopeful for spring than the ground hog not seeing his shadow. Julie Barney Trueblood and little son Jesse from Burlington, Miss, spent three weeks with her parents Larry and Dawna Barney. Grandma and grandpa thoroughly enjoyed them and tried to tell Julie when she left to go home that she should leave Jesse here but for some strange reason she didn't agree. Larry and Dawna had a special day in Salt Lake City when they went up to be with her brother Ronald and Rosalee Perkins family when they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for eternity. Many friends and family members were there to share the happiness with the Perkins family, Jim and Evelyn Henrie was home from Dixie for a day or two but are not quite ready to come back for the summer yet. Bruce and Bonnie Dalton had daughter Heidi and baby here last week. Emily Dalton, daughter of Bruce and Bonnie Dalton, received her Gospel in Action Award in LDS 3rd Ward. Ginger Emerson, daughter of William and Kristene Emerson was given her Gospel in Action Award. Three children were baptized: Lance Shakespeare, Heather Gray and Collin Smith. Tim Smith, baptized son Collin and also blessed their new baby girl with the name of Lauren Ashley Smith. Tim and Cindy Smith's parents and other family members were here for the happy occasion. Tim is a pharmacist and they have lived in Panguitch about a year. Little Thomas Kelly Hailstone was blessed by Jason Orton. Thomas is a son of Kelly and Holly Christian Hailstone. Grandparents Henry and Tanya Thomas were present and great-grandma Gai Wilcock came from her busy life in Dixie to rejoice with the family. Andrea Guillett was called as night Relief Society organist. George and Thora Pearson Proctor have had a series of sad experiences recently. Thora's brother Harold Pearson, 83, of Circleville died. On the day of his funeral they received word that their See Panguitch News On Page 4-A Panguitch News (From Page 2-A) sister Delia Eck, 93, died in a rest home in Fresno, Calif. During the holidays, the Proctors daughter Connie Whiting of Clearfield was driving the Senior Citizens bus when a loaded cement truck hit the front of the bus. Connie was pinned in and was unconscious. She was flown to Salt Lake City where she was treated for broken ribs, a broken arm, injured knees . and other injuries. She is recovering slowly but feels lucky to be alive. Ned and Wanda Sudweeks Veater came from American Fork to get pictures of early Panguitch homes. Wanda has published a book on the Sudweeks family of the Circleville area and Ned is collecting material for family records. They visited with his sister Betty Frandsen and searched the DUP Museum and the city library. William Phil Burrows called from Dixie to say he appreciated the books he was given as a boy while he and his family lived here. His parents are Phil and LaMola Burrows. They lived where the Bill Slacks live now. Bill said he is hoping the city library will be able to have funds to buy the books they need. Many folks from here went to Circleville to the viewing and burial service of Art Gottfredson. He married Jean Henrie, daughter of Orald and Ruty Henrie of Panguitch. We send our love to Jean and all the family. Marjorie Davies called from their winter home in Arizona to tell us the death of Panguitch native Margaret Davies Elmer of Lompoc, Calif. Margaret was a daughter of Tom and Dempster Davies. She and husband Jerold Elmer, now deceased, had six children. Jerold was the son Pres. A.L. Elmer and Elizabeth Elmer and brother of Joann Miller. Margaret is survived by the six children and the following brothers and sisters: Lowell and Amy Jackson, Ray and Donna Davies, Keith and Beverly Davies, Lora and Melvin Feulner and Cal and Marjorie Davies. The death was very sudden. Margaret was running a pre-school where she lived. Our love goes to our neighbors in their loss. Native Perry Biglllow, son of Dr. M. Willard and Uene Biglow, died in Provo at age 76. He was very active in the LDS church. He is survived by three sisters: Amy, Lois and Donna. |
