Show WWH gt! J SSJB Free Fishing Day On Sat., June 6 Fishing waters throughout Utah should see plenty of anglers on Saturday, June 6, as the Division of Wildlife Resources marks Free Fishing Day in Utah. People will not need a license to fish in the state that day. All other regulations found in the 1998 Utah Fishing Proclamation Guide will be in effect. "We're trying to attract people to fishing by having a free day," said Tom Pettengill, Division sport fisheries coodinator. Division staff treat Free Fishing Day as they would a holiday weekend, meaning they usually stock additional fish to meet the additional demand, Pettengill said. Instead of streams and rivers, anglers fishing June 6 may want to consider fishing at lakes and reservoirs. "Because of the high runoff, we probably won't stock many streams that weekend," Pettengill said. "We'll be putting the fish into lakes instead." Anglers, especially those who might be fishing for the first time, are encouraged to pick up a copy of the proclamation and learn the rules. Proclamations are available from fishing license agencies statewide or at Division of Wildlife Resource offices in Cedar City. |
