Show Tropic News By Louise Ott 679-8776 Linda Gates is visiting parents Ira and Agnes Littlefield. She came for nephew Mitch Littlefield's wedding reception and stayed on to help her parents. Bud, Linda, Connie and Ginger Mecham were here as were Bud's four sisters, helping mother Margaret Mecham celebrate her 80th birthday. Alfred Foster was sustained as Tropic LDS Ward Sunday School President. Slate Stewart was released re-leased as Young Men's Secretary and Bryce Syrett was sustained in that position. Casey Shakespear, son of Kevan and Kay Shakespear was baptized a member of the LDS church. Stoney and Francine Pollock and son, Jake are visiting at the Lonnie Pollock home. Tice and Paula Palmer and girls were visiting at the Bart Palmer home. Visiting with Clare and Mary Lee Ramsay were Garland and Howard Esplin and their wives from Las Vegas. They are Mary Lee's brothers. Grant and Darlene LeFevre were here at Adrian and Glenna Pollock's. They went fishing with Adrian and had a great time. Dixie Shakespear spent some time taking care of grandchildren in New Castle while daughter, Christy Barton went to the Scout Jamborall in Fillmore. Leila King took her mother, RaVae Pollock to St. George to visit LaPriel Wilson. They went to Kanab for a visit and on the way home had a car accident. Leila got a whiplash and LaPriel has a cracked sternum and is feeling some discomfort from it.. All had their seatbelts on so even though the car was totaled, no one was seriously se-riously hurt. Ferriland and Orlan Ruesch went to Cedar City for doctors appointments, ap-pointments, then on to Hurricane to spend some time with the Russell Wrights and see granddaughter, Megan Ruesch play volleyball against Hurricane. Megan lives in Page and is a daughter of John and Janice Ruesch. Chris Henderson and family visited vis-ited at the DeVar Pollocks. Gayle Pollock's first grade class went on a field trip to Bryce Canyon and the Paunsagaunt See Tropic News On Page 4-A Tropic News (From Page 2-A) Museum in Panguitch. They had three mothers attend as chaperones. Visited with Ella Bybee in Panguitch at the Extended Care Center. She had the staples taken out of her leg and says that she is feeling a lot better. Kaylynn Harward came through surgery and is doing okay. Her parents, Clive and Thelma Bybee stayed after the blessing of her baby to help out. Everyone is busy getting their cattle off the range. It's hard to believe be-lieve that it's that time of year again. Where did the summer go? Bob and Beverly Syrett traveled to Japan. A lot of great things are happening happen-ing here. Louise Shakespear married mar-ried Jim Englestead and Kasidi Richards married Steve Floyd. We wish both couples lots and lots of happiness. Clare Ramsay had a doctors appointment ap-pointment in Salt Lake City at the LDS hospital. Everyone is praying it was good news and that he will be okay. Margaret Shakespear was in Mesa, Ariz, visiting parents Marian and Joseph Nielson. Sheree Garrett reports that son, Lane, has been transferred to Barinne, Saudi Arabia with his unit. They will fly and patrol that area and will be there for an indefinite time. The Tropic LDS Young Women attended a play "Saturday's Warriors" on Tuesday evening as an activity in Cedar City. Visiting at Earl and Rachel Jolley's home was Earl's niece, Linda Black from Orem. His sister Ilene and husband 'Glen Lowder also came from Springville. Earl and Rachel seem to be in good spirits spir-its and are thankful they can be in their own home. They are great to visit with. Visiting with parents Obie and June Shakespear was a daughter, Nelda Brannon and four children of Cedar City. Vicki Ahlstrom's mother, Bonnie Cannon who lives in Santa Clara, came out of the grocery store there with her purchases in a cart. She was hit by a car driven by an 83-year-old man. The force of the hit pushed the cart back into a post, the wheels of the car ran over her legs. She received a severe break on one wrist, several cracked ribs and a punctured lung. She was sore but mighty thankful that she is alive. Vicki and Doug Ahlstrom were in St. George when she was in the hospital. Alice Christensen called and said that she is feeling a lot better after being real sick this summer. She loves her job working with the people she teaches and says hello to all. Stanley and Louise Ott received an article from daughter Marilyn Holley. It seem husband Shawn Holley was featured in the Horizons section of the Ogden Standard Examiner about the books that he has written and the success he has had. His books are sold around the world. Blaine and Shauna Anderson were in Provo visiting Blaine's parents. par-ents. Then they planned on a trip to San Diego, Calif. Larry and Echo Nielson are back from Michigan and went for a visit in Cedar City. Theron Kay Griffin has been visiting his mother in Vernal. Her health is about the same. Silas Munson is still having a lot of pain. Irene Munson is doing a lot better. We had such a lovely rain on Wednesday. Everything sure smelled good with a clean face on it. Wish we could get more. The fear of fire on the park went from danger to safe in just 24 hours. |
