Here the group PANGUITCH The "finest group of girls" she has ever worked with was the tribute Drill Team Advisor Monica Tebbs gave this year's Panguitch High School Bo-bette Bo-bette Drill Team members, 2nd place winners across the state in 1 A drill team competition. The turnout and excitement seemed to measure no less than that of a year ago when the Panguitch High School Bobettes brought home the coveted 1st place trophy. At the Panguitch High School auditorium on Monday evening the drill team presented their annual re-j re-j vue which proved to be an evening of outstanding entertainment for family, friends and supporters Advisor to the team composed of two juniors, nine sophomores and nine freshmen, is Monica Tebbs. Many thank you's were announced an-nounced between the drill team routines rou-tines and musical numbers, with the Bobettes recognizing those who helped them in any way to achieve their success. The Bobettes performed their military, dance, prop and novelty routines, punctuated by a variety of local talent, for a full evening of entertainment. Aaron Reynolds, 9 and sister Amy, 6, sang "I'm A Little Bit Country, I'm A Little Bit Rock and Roll," and "I'm Proud To Be An American." They are the children of Ann and Bart Reynolds. Danny Yardley and Tyler Torgerson Torg-erson performed the trumpet duet they will take to state Duet and Ensemble competition. Randi Weekes sang "Part Of Your World" and Sally Cooper sang "Tell Me On A Sunday" from the musical Song And Dance. Travis Christy sang "Never Gonna Let You Down" by the group Surface and David Weekes sang "Empty Chairs and Empty Tables" from Les Miserables. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders from Panguitch Elementary performed per-formed several selections on their recorders and Luke McEwen offered a comedy routine. Pat Dix introduced each Bobette, presenting her with a rose and announcing an-nouncing the name of her parents: Kristy Barabas, sophomore (Rick and Robbie Barabas); Heidi Christy, freshman (Mary Jane and the late Bill Christy); Larisa Decker, junior (Joe and Lorena Decker); Marci Decker, freshman (Joe and Lorena Decker); Jeannie Duff, freshman (Larry and Jeannie Duff); Tara Ex-cell, Ex-cell, freshman (Greg and Jane Ex-cell); Ex-cell); Desiree Griffin, sophomore (Russell and Annette Bridges); Crista Hernandez, sophomore (Craig and Sherrie Twitchell); and Susie Julander, sophomore (Paul and Laura Julander). Greg and Jane Excell were applauded ap-plauded for their help in transporting transport-ing the backdrop for the novelty routine to Cedar City, and all drill team mothers were acknowledged for sewing the novelty costumes, assisting with makeup and hair arrangements ar-rangements at competition time. Laura Julander was recognized for heading up all fund raisers for the group and Wayne Ross for his patience and skill as bus driver for their trips. The thank you's continued, with kudos to the PHS cheerleaders for their year-long support andto the anonymous people who provided dinner after Region and State and breakfast before state. Thanks also went to Afton Julander Ju-lander and Tim Tebbs for cutting and painting flag poles and making backdrop frames and to all the supportive sup-portive parents. Boys whose musclcpower moved the backdrops at Region and State competition were Colby Davis, Kip Davis, Blake Dalton, Gerry Breinholl, Tommy Larson, Markay Englestead, Jim Mullc-neaux, Mullc-neaux, Chad Veater, Elliot Brinkerhoff, Brinker-hoff, Casey Hulet, Randy Klein, Bert Prince and Kyle Nowers. Final praise went to Alana Davis for creating the fantastic backdrops for the novelty routine. The Bobettes presented her with roses and sang her "Happy Birthday," Birth-day," too. Each year other schools have complained that they couldn't afford to compete because Pangui-tch Pangui-tch spends so much on its backdrops. back-drops. It was explained, however, that this year's backdrop, typical of other years, cost only $15 to make, utilizing cardboard, paper, spray paint and wire. A last thank you went to the entire en-tire community for its support throughout the year. |
