Show Bids Received For Water Channel Job The Utah Department of Transportation Trans-portation opened bids today on a project to repair the riprap-lined water channel which runs adjacent to State Route 12 in Red Canyon near Bryce Canyon National Park. The three-quarter-mile section to be repaired is located approximately between mileposts three and four, east of the junction of US-89 in Garfield County. Of the seven bids received, Taurus Tau-rus Plumbing of Nephi had the apparent ap-parent low bid of $19,606. That amount was well below UDOT's official engineer's estimate of $28,600. The contract will not be awarded, however, until the bids are reviewed to make certain no errors were made and that all requirements were met. The project consists of placing loose riprap and borrow material along the north bank of the channel to stabilize the bank and prevent erosion. Work on the project will be done this spring. There will be some interference to traffic as the repair material is hauled in and dumped along the channel. The contract stipulates work must be completed by May 1. Funds from UDOT's maintenance mainte-nance budget will be used for this project |
