He earned the obligatory 11 badges and then 10 of his choice to meet the criteria of 21 required badges. He said that because of his love for the outdoors, the Environmental Environ-mental Science Badge was his favorite while he liked earning the Citizenship in the Community the least. For his required Eagle project he made a series of five sets of wood toys designed to test and enhance hand-eye coordination and develop motor skills of three-and-four-year-old pre-schoolers. He made the toys in wood shop and was helped by-, fellow Varsity Scouts Alan Buckingham, Guy Thompson, Joe Lutes and others who gave help while Pollock himself spent some 30 hours on the project. Pollock, second oldest of four brothers and a sister, plans to study at Southern Utah State College and wants to go on a mission for his church. Bart Palmer is his current scoutmaster, who is assisted by Pollock's father. His previous scoutmaster was Lonnie Pollock, and he said that he got off to a good start scouting by encouragement from Jay Boudon, Payson, his first scoutmaster. His father presented his Eagle Scout Badge to him and he in turn presented a miniature to his mother. He expressed appreciation to his scout leaders, scout committee members, his parents, and to everyone ev-eryone else who encouraged him along his way to Eagle. |
