He was born Oct. 30, 1928, Escalante, to Wilford Harvey and Alverda Spencer Liston. He married Ann Marie Nelson, Jan. 25, 1960, Logan LDS Temple. He was a veteran of the Korean War; past member of the Panguitch Jaycees and Lions Club. He was a member of the Panguitch LDS Stake high priest quorum and had served as ward clerk, assistant Panguitch Pan-guitch LDS Stake clerk and elders quorum president He was office manager for Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation in Panguitch. Survivors: wife, Panguitch; sons, daughters, Mrs. David (Lorraine) Owens, Natalie, both Panguitch; Glenn, St. George; parents, par-ents, Panguitch; brothers, Lane L., Lynn, both Escalante. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Panguitch Second LDS Ward chapel with Bishop" Robert V. Judd, officiating. Garlan Mitchell gave the family prayer; Barbara Heaton and Barbara Orton played prelude and postlude music and Dee Houston offered the invocation. invo-cation. Advancing of the colors was by the Panguitch American Legion Post 25. Tributes were by Vernon Spencer, Lorraine Owens, Loran J. Bauer, Kendell W. Brinkerhoff and remarks by Bishop Judd. Music included selections by the Panguitch Tri-Ward Choir and vocal vo-cal duet by Barry and Marilyn Er-ickson. Er-ickson. Clark Frandsen offered the benediction. Interment was in the Escalante Cemetery by Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield, where Thcron Mitchell offered the dedicatory dedica-tory prayer. Pallbearers were Glenn Liston, Lane Liston, Lynn Liston, Garth Nelson, Tim Nelson and David Owens. Military rites were conducted by the Panguitch American Legion Post 25. J.A. Shakespear TROPIC Funeral services were held June 18 in Cedar City for Jay Alton Shakespear, 58, who died June 15 at his home in Cedar City. He was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Tropic to Harley Alton and Louie Ott Shakespear. He married Genevieve Hamilton Nov. 10, 1962, in the St. George LDS Temple; later divorced. He graduated from Tropic High School and attended Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City. He was employed for many years with the Utah Parks Service and retired re-tired July 11, 1987, after 30 years employment with the Iron County School District. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in the Sunday School presidency, as a home teacher and Cub Scout master. He was a past member of the Cedar City Jaycees and the Cedar City Elks Lodge. He was an officer in the Utah Public Employees Association. He is survived by a son, Jay Alton, Al-ton, Cedar City; mother, Louie Shakespear of Ordervillc; brother William, Provo; sisters, Mrs. Brent (Alta Lou) Adair of Brea, Calif.; Mrs. LaFay (Jeannctte) Coleman of Ordcrville; Mrs. Duane (Thelma) Slaugh of Salt Lake City; Mrs. William (Mary Jo) Beatty of Cedar City; Mrs. Mark (Cheryl) Faux of West Jordan; Mrs. Dana (Colleen) Andrus of Page, Ariz. Interment was in Cedar City Cemetery. 2 Ryan Houston Ryan Houston Elder Ryan Houston has been called to serve a mission for the LDS Church in th Chile Osorno Mission. A farewell testimonial in his honor will be held June 26 at 1 p.m. in the Panguitch LDS Stake Center. Elder Houston is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Houston o f Panguitch, a grandson of Florence Houston of Panguitch, and Alma Morgan of Circleville. He is a 1987 honor student graduate of Panguitch High School, Sterling Scholar and Southwest Utah Sterling Scholar runner-up. He recently completed his first year at Southern Utah State College where he was honored by the Alpha Chi Honor Society for achieving superior academic performance. He is a four-year graduate of LDS Seminary and an Eagle Scout. He will enter the LDS Missionary Mission-ary Training Center in Provo on June 29. |
