Show ' JUST STUFF BYJflN s My belief in blue skies and sunshine was waning. I, like most of northern Utah, had been blanketed in fog for so long I began to question the existence of anything in the heavens other than the suffocating, cottony muck. Instead of looking out to see a beautiful sunset kissing the horizon, we see haze slobbering on the window we can't see the back yardk let alone the horizon. When most people are wishing on the evening star we're wishing to see even one star. On Ground Hog Day when everyone watched the ground hog to see if he saw his shadows, we were trying to see through the fog to see the ground hog. Fog it looks lovely as it floats above the meadows and over the lakes. It brings about a snug, cozy feeling if it wraps around your house and you're inside by a warm fire. It looks picturesque as it snuggles up to the top of a mountain. But when it hangs in the air for days on end and locks out the sunshine and locks in the yuck, it tends to lose its beauty. After you've grogged in the fog a few days, it wears on a person's I personality. Usually cheery chaps I become cranky, friendly folk 1 become fiesty. Everyone turns, in 1 part, into fog monsters! I would be 1 willing to bet that wars have been started due to fog. Fog can be added j to that already lengthy list of mind- i altering, hallucinogenic sustances! I But my sanity is saved. No, there hasn't been a break in the weather, the fog hasn't lifted, I merely escaped and headed south where blue skies and sunshine prevail, j i |
