Show The number of awards presented at Thursday evening's Panguitch Chapter Future Farmers of America Banquet, held at Panguitch Elementary, demonstrated an outstanding year FFA members have enjoyed. Progra m included the presentation of honorary chapter farmers. FFA Members Earn Awards At Panguitch Ceremonies The annual Future Farmers of America awards banquet was held Thursday evening, April 12 at the Panguitch Elementary School where special guests included FFA alumni, school personnel and local businessman. The special program was moderated by FFA president Mac Hatch and dinner was catered by the PanguitchHigh School Homemaklng department. Honorary FFA memberships were bestowed on Bennett Josie, PUS principal for his "100 percent support" of the FFA progam and Delin Roundy for his continued assistance at FFA events throughout the season. Josie spoke briefly, lauding the FFA organization as "one of the finest organizations in existence today." Josie, who said his family had gotten involved personally with FFA In a pig-raising project, commended FFA advisor Jack Soper for his dedication to the program and for his outstanding work in vocational education. Soper presented the awards to each FFA member with the top honor Chapter Farmer Award going to Raymond Roundy, and the Greenhand award to Pat Graf. Leland Riggs, representing the Panguitch office of the Soil Conservation Service presented Public Speaking awards to first place winner Wally Dodds, second place winner, Ryan Josie; and third place winner, Robert Miller. Special Foundation Awards were presented to Mack Hatch (horsemanship and agricultural mechanics), Scott Simklns (soil and water conservation), Ralph Perkins (livestock production), Tim Tebbs (agriculture production), Robert Miller (placement in Agricultural sales), Carson Marshall (swine production), Dave Henrie (sheep production), Pat Graf (farm and home beautification), Troy Josie (agricultural processing), Quinn Brinkerhoff (crop production), Troy Jolley (poultry production), Ryan Houston (beef production), Raymond Roundy (dairy production), and David Ipsontachievement award for career skills and exploration). Prizes were awarded following the award program for the oldest alumnus present (Grant Houston) and the youngest alumnus present (Doug Owens). New FFA officers for 1984-85 were announced: Jeff Veater, president; David Ipson, vice president; Ryan Josie, treasurer; Wally Dodds, sentinel; Ralph Perkins, secretary and Pat Graf, reporter. The entire FFA Chapter presented their advisor with a special gift following the awards. |
