Show Escalante PTSA NamesNew Officers at Meet ESCALANTE Newly elected officers of the combined PTSA of Escalante High School and Elementary School were announced for the rapidly expanding membership which has grown from 12 last year to 55 this year, Elected president was Candy Lyman; elementary vice president, Working to upgrade the quality of service to Panguitch, Than Cooper has now completed the requirements of Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) and is a certified officer. Lana Christian; high school vice president, Amber Griffin; and secretary, Dorothy Simpson. The new officers will travel to the state convention for special training on April 27 and 28. Past president and her dedicated co-workers of the out-going PTSA board were paid a special tribute by Escalante High School principal Myron Cottam for their enthusiastic commitment to their job. Cited were the past year's accomplishments: successful fun-draising campaigns from the sale of tee shirts and stuffed animals and from the Halloween carnival. Among items planned for purchase with the funds will be playground equipment for the elementary school, probably a new piece of climbing equipment. Basketballs, baseballs, and soccer balls are also among purchases in mind for the students. At the high school funds will also go toward upgrading and repairing the school marquee with the district expected to fund one-half on all purchases. Funds raised will also help to send this year's new officers to the state convention and help with related expenses. The group was praised for its successful past year and looks forward to an equally successful school year for 1983-1984. |
