Show Mineral Club Members Go On Field Trip Ten members of Color Country Gem and Mineral Society participated in the club's Saturday field! trip near Escalante including guests from Marys vale, Walter and Aileen Cropper. The day was spent hiking and searching for septurian fossils and nodules with some unusually large specimens discovered by the enthusiastic rockhounders. Later in the day the group stopped at the home of Henry and Naomi ' Bolton Escalante to view their large f collection of rocks which they have incorporated into the landscaping of their property. The club held its meeting for the month on April 12 with a business meeting following a potluck dinner at which there were 19 members and guest for the evening, Mary Ann Davis. They spent the remainder of the evening making plans for Saturday's outing and decided on a design for club vests in red and white with the Color Country Gem and Mineral Society logo to be imprinted on the back of each. The group meets each month on the second Tuesday at the City Room in Panguitch and welcomes new members both experienced rock hunters and anyone wanting to learn about the hobby. Information may be obtained from Mable Fischer at the Three Gables Gallery in Panguitch. |
