Show Pinewood Derby Winners Named During Contests TROPIC Tropic was the site of Escalante Stake's annual pinewood derby where Cub Scouts gathered January 30 to race their home made racing cars. Among the eight-year-oldsj Travis Cottam, Escalante, took first place; Ryan Talbot, Tropic, took second place; and Jay Hales, Escalante, took third place. First place among the nine-year-olds was won by Nephi Carter, Escalante; second place by Len Wilson, Escalant; and third place by Chris Baker, Henrieville. Among the 10-year-old contestants Martell Simons, Escalante, took first place; Todd Feltner, Tropic, took second; and Gary Syrett, Rubys Inn, took third. Each entry was judged for its appearance. Special recognition for creativity went to Ronald Cowles, Escalante, for the eight-year-olds; Chris Barker, Henrieville, for the nine-year-olds; and Qary Syrett, Rubys Inn, fpr the 10-y.ear-61ds. '' ' Best workmanship recognition went to Travis Cottam, Escalante, for the eight-year-olds; Len Wilson, Escalante, for the nine-year-olds and Austin Littlefield, Tropic, for the 10-year-olds, Each boy entering the contest was presented with a certificate. District competition will be held in 'May in Richfield. |
