Show Utah Symphony Concert Thursday In Richfield The Utah Symphony will perform in Richfield under the baton of guest conductor Charles Ketcham. The orchestra will take the stage Thursday, April 29 at the Richfield LDS Tabernacle beginning at 8 p.m. The program for the concert will include Roman Carnival Overture by Berlioz followed by the Hornpipe from Handel's "Water Music Suite," the Andante from Haydn's Symphony No. 94 ("Surprise"), and performances of Till Eulenspiegel by Strauss and Beethoven's Symphony No. 8. In addition to the public concerts, the Utah Symphony will perform nine, daytime concerts for School children during the April tour. These include performances at South Sevier High School in Monroe April 29 at 1 and 2:10 p.m. and Wayne High School April 30,9:15 a.m., in Bickne'l. The Utah Symphony Ipgs some 20,000 miles annually, giving concerts in Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, California, Oregon and Washington. It is the only fully professional orchestra serving a combined land area of more than a quarter million square miles. In June 1981 the Utah Symphony returned from its triumphant fifth international tour, which won rave reviews, numerous encores and countless curtain calls in Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Norway. Conductor Charles Ketcham has held such appointments as associate conductor of the San Diego and Gulbenkian (Portugal) Symphony Orchestras, principal conductor of Ballet West and music director of the American Opera Workshop in Vienna. He was among the first to be chosen for the Exxon Arts Endowment conductor program. In an international career, he has conducted in Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, Holland, Austria and Africa, as well as such American orchestras as the Pittsburgh, Dallas, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Denver and Portland. |
