Show Pesticide Training Scheduled "Restricted Use Pesticides" will be the subject of a three-hour training program to qualify farmers, ranchers, fruit growers, and home gardeners to purchase and use the valuable pest control aids. Utah State University Extension Agent Verl Matthews announced the seminars to be held at the Garfield County Courthouse in Panguitch from 2 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 5 and earlier the same day at the Kane County Courthouse in Kanab from 9 a.m. until noon. Participants at the training session may qualify to use the pesticides for a five-year period after receiving their permit. No admission fee is charged for the seminars or certifciation permit and those who complete the three hour course may purchase reference bulletins at cost if they wish. Restricted use permits are issued by the Utah Department of Agriculture for a five-year period and Matthews indicated that many users in Garfield and Kane counties currently own permits which are about to expire. Permits m?.y be obtained ' or renewed by completing the training session, successfully passing a written test, or by home study. |
