Show : Uranium I Exploration ! ESCALANTE Potential possible impact of proposed uranium exploration activity on Fifty-Mile Mountain southeast of Escaiante ! will be the topic of discussion at a meeting scheduled Thursday. The public meeting will be held in the Escaiante , High School lunchroom at 7 p.m. tonight by the ( Bureau of Land Management to receive public input on the BLM's t , Environmental As-sessment (EA) of the I proposed exploration in the area. Plans of operation were submitted to the BLM by both Gulf Mineral Resources Company and Exxon Minerals Company. The plans will be reviewed separately by the BLM within the same time frame. ; The area of Fity-Mile ! Mountain involved was - identified as a WSA at the end of the Con- gressionally directed . wilderness inventory in November, 1980. As a WSA, the BLM is directed by section 603(c) of the Federal Land Policy and ' Management ACt to " manage the area "in a r manner so as not to impair the suitability of such areas for preser-I- vation as wilderness" I- should Congress choose to designate it as such.
