Show Fire Conditions In Forest Dangerous Dangerous fire con-ditons now exist on National Forest lands because of extremely dry weather during the past two months, according to Cedar City District Forest Ranger Rollo Branson. Man's carelessness has caused 60 percent of the wildfires occuring on the Cedar City Ranger District to date this season. Improperly extinguished cigarettes, have resulted in three fires which caused significant resource damage, and cost over $40,000 to control. Firewood gatherers, recreationists and other Forest visitors are urged to use extreme caution with fire, and to make sure all cigarettes, campfires, and other burning material are extinguished completely before being left. |
