Show Robert Allen receives medical attention from Brianhead Resort area EMTs and Cedar City ambulance atten- Arizonans Injured As Car Rolls Down Mountainside Two Mesa, Arizona men crawled virtually unhurt from the twisted remains of their small vehicle Monday morning when their car rolled over at least six times on its trip down the , mountainside, coming to rest against a tree 86 feet below the roadway which leads from Cedar Breaks to Panguitch Lake. Robert Allen, 25, and his brother Dan, 22, stated that their car had started to fishtail on a curve on a section of newly chipped road and that, as they braked, the fishtailing worsened until they found themselves tumbling over the edge of the embankment. They braced their hands against the roof of the small vehicle as they endured their topsy-turvy ride down the mountainside, until the vehicle finally came to a stop against a tree. Both men managed to crawl through dants following accident on Cedar Breaks road. He and brother were treated in Panguitch. a window as the vehicle's feeble horn, shorted out, blared their distress. They heard several vehicles pass by on the road above but did not realize that their wreck was not- visible to passersby. Finally Dan, least injured of the two, crawled to the top where he flagged down a passing motorist who scram bled down the hillside to assist Robert who had sustained a broken collarbone. The two, whose vacation at nearby Brianhead had ended abruptly, were grateful for the emergency treatment; they received form helpful motorists who stopped to administer aid, noting that no less than five happened to be - from their home state of Arizona. They were also assisted by Forest Service personnel, Utah Highway Patrolman Craig Twitchell, Brianhead EMT's, and the Cedar City ambulance which transported them to Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch where they were treated and released. |
