Show Escalante Chit Chat Kay Mxry We roI small showers and everyone with gardens are complaining thai the tomatoes are not ripening and the breeze feels like fall Beryl and Hetha Shurtz went to Salt I-ake City for doctors appointments and they kept Ketha for two days then did major surgery She came through it ok and we are all giving her moral support Mary Griffin has her right hand bandaged, she went down the cellar to get a jug and fell up the steps breaking the jug and cutting her hand. LaVern took her to Panguitch to have it dressed and was relieved to find no tendons were severed Alice Ann Lyman took son Uaden to Cedar City hospital where he had surgery. Neal Liston spent some time in that hospital for tests and treatment. Two of the daughters of Hilo and Lettie Royce came to check on the family home and reported that their father had fell and broke some ribs, he had been hospitalized for that and some chronic ailments. Ruth and Reed Thompson came and took Reeves and Laura Baker North where they had appointments with their doctors. While there they attended the wedding reception of granddaughter, Julie Lynn, oldest daughter of Laurel. It was a garden affair at the family home. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple August 18th The groom is Greg Cram, a returned missionary, they will make their home in parents home, they are proud to announce that son Reeves Wilmer was made a major in the Air Force Reserve. Phyllis Alvey went to Wyoming to care for a new grandson born to Terry and Clyde Christensen. The Don Colemans had a visit from Stan and Paula Wise and family from Fremont, Calif. Stan and Don were old army buddies and hadn't been together for twenty years. The Arnold Buttons had Wayne and family home for the weekend lniise Liston went to Wisconsin for a family reunion Wayne and Glenna Banks of Iowa are here tearing down the barn on the Dicey Coombs lot and plan to build a home there Marlene Haws and daughter Jillyn and Deon Alvey went to Cedar City for dental appointments All three of Deons daughters met them there Dan and Marj Raird and daughter came from Wayne County for Sunday services Daniel and Orilla Cowles had a visit from Glen Imlay and John Michelangelo, then John came back and brought Twila and stayed overnight Darrell Alvey took a horse to Cedar City and brought two back Nancy and Lorell Baker of Richfield visited friends here Vergean and Carolyn Porter took Lillie Spencer north where they held a family reunion and Lillie went to her doctor James and Millie Mcl nelly spent the w eokend at Richfield with son Vern and family. Gordon and Almeda Haycock and family, Vera Davis and son Millard went to Richfield for the wedding and reception of Devon Davis who exchanged vows with Sharon Jensen- of Richfield Carol Joy Cooper got the younger kids ready for school then brought son Chris to Utah to attend school at BYU and she plans to spend a week here at the Morris Shirts home. Idclla Imlay and Jimmy Taylor joined me for a trip; we left Idella in Richfield to visit Lavina Pollock, we went to Mapleton where Jerry and Julie came and took Jimmy to Salt Lake City. LaVee Wiscombe took me to BYU for education week which was very enjoyable. Gwen and Randal Lyman and Ushur Spencer were there from here and we met Lael and Sharee Spencer several times, saw Roma Bailey and Dave Adams but could not get to speak. Marie Hall met her family members in u American Fork for a reunion sponsored by Lillian and Ray Shepherd There were 47 persent The second son of Walter Steffensen has his mission call so some of them accompanied him to theprovo LaM Temple Marie came home to be visited by Marilla Jolly of Cedar City, thev are bottling Tony Larson and family are here including his dad and mother Hal and Lasca Woolsey and son Alan spent the weekend at the Farl Woolsey home Marvin and Louise Mounteer and girls went north for doctor appointments. A bridal shower was held 1st Saturday at the Varden Woolsey home for their daughter Brenda Friends here got word that Ken and Bobby Packer have a baby boy Sacrament meeting was put off until 4 p.m so the speakers could get here The program was put on by the Lorell Munson family with the main speaker being Reed who has just completed an LDS mission to Denmark. All of the immediate family were here and many others more remote LeAnn Alvey. daughter of the Ray L Alveys of Roy was chosen all around cow girl at the Roy and Hooper days. She took first in barrel, keyhole and pole bending racing. Dennis Lott was home for his time off. To mingle with the crowd is great but please don't think me rude when I say there's nothing beats just plain old solitude. |
