Show Open House Will Honor Orland Porters Dec. 21 ESCALANTE - The children of Mr. and Mrs. Orland R. Porter of Escalante are holding an open house for their parents, honoring them on their 50th wedding anniversary, Tuesday, Dec. 21, at their home from 4 to 7 p.m. They were married Dec. 21, 1928 at Junction, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have resided most of their married life in Escalante. They ran the Double D cafe, known then as the Whiting Cafe, for 20 years. They both like camping and fishing. Mrs. Porter likes all types handiwork. Mr. Porter is secretary of Lions Club. They are both active in the LDS church and according to their daughter, "Likes to be kept Just as busy as they can." They have four children, Mrs. Boyd (ReNee) Owens, Phoenix; Mrs. Donald (Darlene) Griffin, Escalante; Mrs. William D., Orangeville, Calif, and Marvin J., Mesa. They have 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. They request no gifts. |
