Show Garfield Farm Bureau Member Vies for Honor An active Farm Bureau member from Pangultch has been elected as Garfield County's nominee for the distinguished service award. Konroy Henrie will compete with other nominees from all over the State of Utah for the state distinguished service award at the awards banquet held in Salt Lake City this week. Mr. Henrie has held several offices in the county and state Farm Bureau. As a Farm Bureau representative he helped organize the 'Salina Auction, where he is a board member. He has been a regional director of the Utah Cattlemen's Association and a board member of the Board of Directors of the Utah Hereford Association. He is currently president of the West Panguitch Irrigation and Reservoir Company and has been active either as a board member or past president since becoming involved with them. He also serves on the district committee of the Upper Sevier District. He has served as Panguitch City Councilman for several years and as president of the Panguitch Junior Chamber of Commerce where he has taken an active part in community affairs. He served as Garfield County Fair Board chairman and continues to actively encourage livestock participation at the county fair. Mr. Henrie assisted in the 4-H and FFA programs and has received the Future Fanner Adult Award from the local FFA Chapter. He also served on the local selective service board for many years. He served as scoutmaster and taught the boys in MIA for many years and has continued to help the boy scouts in various ways. He has also nerved as district chairman of the Boy Scouts of America for about 10 years. His picture appeared on the front cover of the Utah Farmer Stockman In the November 7, 1973 Issue, showing him with his purebred hereford bulls. Mr. Henrie operates an 800 acre ranch near Panguitch Lake In the heart of the hunting and fishing area. He also farms in the Panguitch valley where his livestock is fed during the winter months. He has a fine herd of registered hereford cattle and bulls and a nice sized farm flock of sheep. The Henries own a cabin on his ranch near Panguitch Lake and have opened this to hundreds of guests. No charge has been made for the guest's beds, meals, horses, jeep, pickup, or hunting and fishing privileges. Among his good qualities, Mr. Henrie sees good in everyone and therefore is respected by the youth and adults alike, as well as his fellow ranchers and neighbors. He sees the beauty In the sunset as well as in his cattle. He is Interested in Indian lore and artifacts and loves to hunt arrowheads. He and his wife, Geo are parents of two sons and two daughters. They sent their two sons on LDS missions and helped to support many other missionaries. They also had an Indian placement student In their home for several years. |
