Show Careers Program Proves Helpful In Area Schools A new careers program initiated by the Utah State Board of Education has been brought to the Panguitch and Bryce Valley High School's junior and senior classes the fourth quarter of this school year, Rodney Bushman, specialist in distributive education, working out of Dixie State College, is here to help the students learn more about careers nd help them get into a vocational area that suits them best. In this program three days a week the students, working on their own, under the direction of Mr. Bushman, learn about different types of occupations according to their individual desires. Two days a week the group works together learning how to find Jobs, how to present themselves at Job interviews and actually go through an interview with the local merchants. Among the 19 different courses of individual study offered are mens apparel, sporting goods, hardware, electronics, agricultural business, recreation and etc. The course is set at three different levels. The high school level helps students obtain work; the first three years in college trie students work under managments of-different businesses; the last year, called internship program the student is working directly with the managers. |
