Show Hall's Creek Jeep Road Opening Urged By Moss Utah Senator Frank E. (Ted) Moss has written the director of the National Park Service seeking to have the Halls Creek Jeep Road in Capitol Reef National Park reopened. "I know the area well," Moss told Ronald H. Walker, " and I do not feel that the road traverses the type of fragile area that would be harmed by the use of this road by jeeps." The Park Service has closed the road, which runs along below the series of scenic bluffs and ridges known as the Waterpocket Fold, pending a decision on a proposal to nuke it a wilderness area. "I ask that you reconsider and open the road to traffic. It is the only way for most people to ever see this unique and beautiful area," Moss wrote. " Furthermore, the road itself should not be Included within the boundaries of any wilder ness that may later be established." |
