Show SUPPORTS HOIJi IN THE ROCK ROAD The Rureau of Land Management is heartily in favor of the building of the road proposed by the Utah State Road Commission from Dance Hall Rock that will cross the river near Stevens Arch and extend about thirty miles to Bullfrog Basin. This road has been opposed by the Wasatch Mountain Club which wants to have 600,000 acres of the public land declared a Wilderness. Mr. Howard commented on the potential wealth of the country in coal and oil development and recreation. Since 90 percent of the area of Garfield County is public land administered by federal agencies, he would like to see coordination among these agencies -the BLM, the Park Service, the Forest Service, the Bureau of Reclamation and the So l Conservation - in the development of a comprehensive plan for the best uses of the natural resources of the area. |
