Show High And Low Of Week Show Fifty-Five Degree Spread In Temperature U.S. FOREST SERVICE NEWS High temperature for the period of June 9 to June 16 was 87 recorded on Tuesday, June 14th. The low temperature was 33 occuring on Friday, the 10th. No precipatlon was recorded for this period. Some showers occurred in the mountains. The thunder showers and dry ligtning occurring on Wednesday, June 15th, brought a rash of forest fires to the Dixie National Forest and BLM lands in the Panguitch area. Eleven fires, all lightning caused, were reported between 12:00 noon and 2:00 P.M. Four fires occurred on the Panguitch Lake Ranger District, two on the Powell Ranger District, all on the Dixie National Forest. The Dixie National Forest Fire crews were quickly mobilized and dispatched to the fires. The drying winds and warm temperatures over the past few weeks have caused a high fire danger condition. The fuels are dry and fires will start easily and spread rapidly. All National Forest visitors are urged to be especially careful with fire. |
