Show Garfield County Democrats Meet, Prepare Primary Slate A very good attendance of delegates and party members spirited the Garfield County Democratic Convention held June 11th at the courthouse in Panguitch. In the" 4 year Commission race Champ Church and incumbent Robert Middlcton advance to having their names on the primary ballot. Other nominees of the party are Mary S. Lee, Treasurer;; Kate Chid-ester, Recorder; George Talbot, Assessor; James D. Perkins, Clerk; Earl Jolley, 2 year Commission; John Crofts, State Legislator, and Vernon Holman, State Senator. The following Delegates to the State Convention were selected: Sariah Alvey, Escalante; James Munson, Tropic; LaMaun Sorcnsen, Antimony; Clem Church, John Crofts and Vernon L. Holman, Panguitch. Two of the three candidates for the U.S. Congress, Harward Hinton and Dr. J. Keith Melville, attended and highlighted the convention by speaking to those present. The third candidate, Mrs. Carolyn R. Grlf-fee, because of some trouble arrived in Panguitch just after the convention was over, but all was not in vain as Mrs. Grif-fee spent most of the evening visiting with party workers and delegates to the State Convention. |
