Show FOURTH LIBERTY LOAN. G Once again our Government is asking for our money. The Fourth Liberty Loan, to be opened open-ed for subscription September 28, is our opportunity to lend. With the faith that characterizes character-izes her progress, our nation has called for a Bum larger than any of the previous loans called for a sum larger than moBt of us can comprehend. A Six billion dollars, for the immediate im-mediate use of our army and navy departments is tho minimum mini-mum with which tho Govern-mcnt Govern-mcnt can bo satisfied at present. As yet, wo have not begun to feel tho burden of providing tho government .with funds. Neither as a nation nor as individuals do wo como In tho class with tho other belligerents in the matter of financial obligation. Compare Com-pare tho ratio of national debt to tho total wealth of tho nations na-tions at war: Germany 37 per cent Franco 35 per cent Great Britlaii 45 per cent United States 5 per cent Wo havo nnt tapped mo surface sur-face of our national wealth in our quest for war financing. Nor do we as indlvlduals carry a heavy per capita burden. Against Germany's ?450; Great Brltlan's $G00; Franco's $550; Italy's $190; Austria's $380; place tho United States' $115. Ono hundred and fifteen dollars dol-lars is not much to owe for our country, Is It? What ono of us is here who would hesitate to assume as-sume that obligation for a friend, not to mention one to whom wo owo all that means most in life to us. We might give tho country that hundred and fifteen dollars which it figures is tho debt of each of us; give that sum beforo wo begin to Invest for ourselves. But tho Government does not ask that does not expect that. It asks to borrow what wo can save and cam In this hour of special need.
