Tho name Inland Empire Exposition Ex-position was suggested to siguify an exhibition ex-hibition showing tho progress and do volopmontof tho great Inland Empire, and tho people who has transformed n bnrrcn desert into n great nnd prosperous prosper-ous commonwealth. In 1817 tho grcnt cxpauso of territory west of tho Rocky Mountains was n "vast desert, inhabited only by Indians and wild animals. Tlui pioneers who blazed tho trail across tho mountains laid the foundations of a grcnt empiro. Sixty two years of growth nnd progress have built up n community that novrlval tho world for thrift and industry. Tho great era of progress that Is now developing in Utah and surround: ing states was decided upon as an opportune oppor-tune time to hold n great exposition to signnlizo the achievements of tho people nud to call the attention of the world to tho rnpid march of progress now taking plnco in tho heart of tho Great American Desert. President J. G. McDonald and his associates have planned for many mouths to mako tho big fair ono long to be remembered nnd thoy nro being loynlly supported by tho ninny interests of tho stnto. Tho year 1009 has been an exceptionally prosperous ono with Utah farmers and requests for spaco from agriculturists mono would tax tho capacity of every building on tljo grounds. Prnctlcnlly ovcry manufacturer who had an exhibit last year has asked for double space and with tho many now manufacturers now in the field, tho.manufaclurers' building will bo crowded to its capacity. Tho miulug men liavo taken n hold of tho nffnlr with' great enthusiusm, nud plans have just been completed for tho crcctioji of n huge mountnln which will contain tho workings of a thoroughly equipped mine. Arrangements will bo made for passogo ways to allow visitors to pass in and out of tho mine to inspect the workings. The details will bo carried carri-ed out exnetly the samo as in a real mine and tho "Mountain of Ore" will no-doubt no-doubt prove to bo a great novelty. New premiums arc being offered in special classes which adds increased interest. Tho big livestock pnrndo will bo tho big event of tho fair. An entire afternoon has been set apart for it and everything possible will bo done to make it a success. Horse races at nights by olectric lights will be ono of tho novelties. novel-ties. Tho half milo track will bo brilliantly lighted making a very pleasing pleas-ing spoctacle.
