Show Riverside. The following pooplo from our town went to tho G. A. R. Encampment last week: Bishop and Mrs. M. J. Richards, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Welling, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Caponer, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Caponer, Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Capenor, Mr and Mrs. C. W. Parke, L. H. Konnard, Sr., L. H. Kennard, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Kennard. Kenn-ard. If there is were others wo woro unable to obtain their names. We lay claim to tho proud distinction of furnishing for tho grand parade on Wednesday Aug. 11, tho only G. A. R. votoran residing within tho boundaries of tho Bear River Stako. L. H. Konnard, Sr., :withhis bluo. uniform, brass buttons and badges was in the ranks. Ho was cheered and f 1 congratulated by friends and acquaintances all along the lino of march from, tho Brigham Young Monument to 7th south. Ten thousand of our country's heroes who in the days of civil war offered their lives for tho uuion, marched in procession. Theso woro tho "Regulars" and Mililia, made an imposing military spectacle Old time martial music by tho veterans, tho strains of numberous bands and tho patriotic cheering of tho throngs along tho lino of march tilled ovory bosom with patriotism. Tho cheering never died-down for a single moment during the parade, but rose and surged and swelled as each division passed by. The veterans veter-ans were proud of the distinction, distinc-tion, as well thoy maybe. Universal Un-iversal pleasure Avas expressed for the hospitable and efficient entertainment accorded tho G. A. R. in Salt Lake City. A man high iip remarked that Utah might oifect another En campment in ten or twelve years. Get ready, Garland, for the G. A. R. in 1920. Monday morning Aug. 1(5, a little stranger announced his arrival at the homo of J. Chaso Gleason in Garland North, near Riverside. All doing nicely. Papa in Park City. Dr. William H. Caponer of Cleveland, Ohio, is the guest of relatives in Riverside. Dr. Caponer has been a very prome-nont prome-nont physician. Ho was for 23 years official physician to the governors' of the state of Ohio. Ho is a brother of Bp. Capenor of Garland, tho Caponors of Riverside and Mrs. Mary Parke- Miss Sylvia Jensen of Logan is a guest at the home of Mrs. Marv Park6. Miss Maud Jardine who has boon spending tho summer with hor parents in Uolbrookhas returned to Rivorsido. Mrs. J. R. Kennard remained in Kaysville to visit relatives, J. R. came back from tho G. A. R. all alono. The work on our now school house is progressing nicoly. Jay Kay. |
